AFC Fylde has given a statement that it will 'disband the Women’s team in its current format'.
This is due to the coronavirus creating uncertainty within the women's game.
AFC Fylde CEO, Jonty Castle said:
The Women’s team, lead by manager, Conrad Prendergast has been a credit to the football club and the local area. However, due to the current and ongoing fluid situation regarding the COVID-19 virus, the Chairman has had to take the tough decision to disband the Women’s team in its current format.
The team - who play in the FA Women's Nation League Northern Premier - have been operating at a semi-professional level. They will now be competing as an amateur team.
Women on the Bench has been informed that they aim to remain in their current league when the next season starts.
